STEM Educator • Curriculum Designer • Consultant • National STEM Leader
John D. Davis Jr. is a STEM educator, curriculum designer, consultant, and founder of STEAMWERKS. With more than 20 years of experience in K–12 education, he has dedicated his career to creating meaningful learning experiences that help students build confidence, explore possibilities, and see themselves in the future of STEM.
A native of Chicago, Illinois, John has taught science, technology, robotics, engineering design, and mathematics while working with students from diverse backgrounds and communities. His work is rooted in a simple belief: students learn best when they are active participants in experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving.
For more than seven years, John has supported national STEM initiatives through work connected to NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement, helping develop and support programs serving students, educators, and communities across the country. His contributions have been recognized through two NASA honors: the Johnson Space Center Innovation Award for his work supporting the successful transition of the High School Aerospace Scholars program to a virtual learning experience, and a NASA Group Achievement Award for his contributions to the Artemis Moon Trees initiative.
John earned his bachelor’s degree from Chicago State University and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in STEM Education from Concordia University Portland. His work and research interests focus on student engagement, STEM identity, self-efficacy, career exploration, and the learning experiences that influence how students see themselves and their future possibilities.
In 2025, John founded STEAMWERKS with a simple but powerful belief: STEM education should be more than worksheets and memorization—it should be an experience.
Through STEAMWERKS, John helps schools, organizations, and communities reimagine STEM learning through immersive experiences, innovative curriculum design, intentional arts integration, and STEM identity development. His mission is to create learning experiences where curiosity becomes confidence—and students begin to recognize the possibilities that exist within themselves.
“The sky is not the limit—it’s the beginning.”
